Chapter 148: Making Ai Incense (Donation +) [149]
Summary
Shi Guang Shan's firewood became damp due to leaks and spring rains, causing smoke that disturbed people and horses. Jiao Jiao brought him meat pancakes and went to fetch dry firewood. Wu Bo Da, excited to help, returned with a large bundle, trying to keep it discreet. Upon entering the barn, he introduced himself to Shi Guang Shan, who struggled with impaired vision due to an injury. They shared a moment of camaraderie, with Wu Bo Da insisting on helping Shi Guang Shan despite his protests. As days passed, Jiao Jiao visited regularly to deliver food and care for Shi Guang Shan, whose leg gradually improved, allowing him to take over the shepherding duties. Meanwhile, the children explored the mountains, seeking food like snakes and bee pupae, despite the risks of poisonous insects and dangerous bee nests. A past tragedy involving a family that perished after consuming bee pupae from a wild hive served as a cautionary tale. Shen Jiao, busy making mugwort incense to repel insects, shared her method with Ma Xing Hua, who was intrigued by the city technique. They ventured to a secluded area to harvest mugwort, unaware of lurking dangers nearby.Full content
