Chapter 13: The First Real Customer. [12]

Summary

Hou Zi, A Li, and Sun Ming visited Yuan Zhou's restaurant, drawn in by Sun Ming's description of the egg fried rice as "something that could be found nowhere else." Initially, A Li was skeptical due to his dislike of oily food, but upon taking a bite, he was conquered by the dish's divine charm. The three men praised the food, but their joy was short-lived as they discovered that Yuan Zhou only served one serving per meal per person. Despite their attempts to negotiate for more, Yuan Zhou stuck to his rule, citing that it was the same as the usual serving size outside. The men left, and another customer, an elegant woman from Jiangnan, entered the restaurant. She ordered the scrambled eggs and rice despite being put off by the price, but Yuan Zhou assured her that it would be worth it.
