Transmigration in the 70s: Taking the Courtyard to the Countryside as a Young Educator

Chapter 12: Finding the Right House [11]

Summary

Best Wishes visits the village chief to discuss moving out with Dawn, who is recovering from an injury. After some initial misunderstanding regarding their relationship, she explains her concerns about Dawn's recovery and the lack of space in the dormitory. The village chief is hesitant about the idea of educated youths living independently but is eventually persuaded by his wife and Best Wishes to consider renting an empty house. They visit a spacious, well-maintained house that has a well, which Best Wishes finds appealing despite concerns about safety. They also check a smaller house next door for Dawn. After agreeing on the rental prices, Best Wishes pays a year’s rent in advance with the condition that no other youths can move in without her consent. The village chief happily accepts the payment and hands over the keys to both houses.
