Transmigration in the 70s: Taking the Courtyard to the Countryside as a Young Educator

Chapter 11: Thinking of Moving Out [10]

Summary

Yang Yu announces it's time to eat, prompting Zhu Yuan to finish her meal before engaging with the other youths at the work site. Zhang Zhi Gang, the site leader, checks on Dawn's injury, which is not serious but prevents him from working. As Zhang introduces Zhu Yuan and the others, Dawn excuses himself, feeling unwell. Zhang continues to explain the food and work arrangements, noting the girls will cook and the boys will fetch water and chop wood. A discussion arises about the cramped girls' dorm, with some girls expressing concerns about space. Best wishes, a new arrival, finds the dinner unpalatable and decides to give her dumplings to Dawn. She asks Zhao Zhen Tao to deliver the food. After dinner, Best wishes realizes she needs to find accommodation and decides to visit the village chief. She prepares gifts of brown sugar, egg cake, and candies before heading out. A little boy, Hu Zi, offers to guide her to the village chief's house, and she rewards him with candy despite his initial refusal.
