Chapter 1183: World War (41). [1187]

Summary

Li Jing's forces captured Hexi while Xu Shiji conquered Bashu, prompting Zhang Xuan to lead a campaign to Taiyuan with 100,000 troops. Upon receiving news of Wang Jun Kuo's surrender to the Da Zhou Empire, Zhang Xuan sent letters to both Wang Shou and Wang Jun Kuo, planning to surround Taiyuan City rather than attack immediately. As the Da Zhou army assembled outside Taiyuan, Qu Tutong, the Tang general, realized the gravity of the situation upon seeing Zhang Xuan's personal leadership and the overwhelming numbers of the Zhou forces. Despite his despair, Qu Tutong remained committed to defending the city, refusing to resort to treachery against the emperor.
