Chapter 1106: Breakthrough in the Southern City (Part 3). [1110]
Summary
Xu Shan Ming, a military officer at Zhao Wang's residence, managed troop schedules, assigning night duties primarily to new recruits while ensuring a veteran was present for every five recruits. This arrangement, although unpopular with the new soldiers, was effective in maintaining order. On a particular night, Yun Shi Tai led a thousand soldiers at the crucial south gate, known as Ding Ding Gate, where General Shen Guang oversaw the watch. Tensions rose when Wang Shi Chong, sensing a potential attack, arrived at the gate to find the guards unprepared. Yun Shi Tai cleverly deflected blame onto Zhao Wang, while a noise from the city wall hinted at a deeper issue. As Wang Shi Chong demanded access, Shen Guang ordered the gates closed, trapping Wang and his guards inside. Chaos ensued as Shen Guang revealed his allegiance to the Sui army, leading to a fierce confrontation with Pei Xingyan's cavalry, resulting in heavy casualties for Wang Shi Chong's forces.Full content
