Chapter 1093: The Issue of Military Power. [1097]

Summary

Yun Ding Xing and his party returned to Luo Yang, where he was concerned about the one thousand Sui soldiers accompanying him. He escorted them to the military camp and instructed his son to stay close to them. Upon receiving a summons from the Emperor, Yun Ding Xing discreetly learned that the Crown Prince had misused military authority, infuriating Wang Shi Chong. During the audience, Yun Ding Xing explained his failure to transport all the grain and the burning of Luo Kou Cang to prevent it from falling into enemy hands. He claimed he did not send troops to Hu Lao Pass but rather sent his son to intercept the Sui army, which bought time for the grain destruction. Wang Shi Yun defended his father, leading to a slight easing of Wang Shi Chong's mood. The discussion turned to the Sui army's rapid advance, with Yun Ding Xing advising the concentration of military power within the Wang family to prevent rebellion. Wang Shi Chong agreed, particularly wary of Zhu Jie’s forces.
