Summary

A governor, haunted by his deceased father's dream about a mistaken military deployment that led to an entire brigade's destruction by pirates, seeks help from Wei, a mysterious official responsible for underworld justice. Wei reluctantly agrees to intercede on the father's behalf. During a supernatural trial, Wei judges the ghosts of the fallen soldiers and attempts to resolve their grievances. The governor witnesses a horrifying scene where his father is briefly dipped in a boiling oil cauldron.
