Summary

Wang Mian, a talented scholar, encounters a Taoist priest who encourages him to pursue cultivation to achieve immortality. Skeptical, Wang follows the Taoist to a grand banquet where celestial beings gather. He is captivated by a beautiful musician, Lady Yunhe, whose skill amazes all. Wang feels inferior amid the grandeur, and the Taoist hints at his past life connection. After a trial, Wang finds himself rescued by a young woman after falling into the sea. She brings him to the Island of Immortals, where he meets her family and attempts to impress them with his poetry, but his efforts lead to embarrassment as the family’s daughters critique him, leaving him feeling out of place.
