Summary

Chai Ting Bin, a man from Hirou, faced turmoil with his infertile and jealous wife, Jin. After the tragic death of a concubine, Chai distanced himself from Jin but eventually reconciled. Jin's harsh treatment of a new concubine, Lin, led to Lin's suicide, prompting Chai to separate from Jin. He became enamored with the beautiful 8th Daughter of the impoverished Shao family. With the help of a merchant woman, plans for their union began. The Shao family initially hesitated but ultimately agreed. The daughter rationalized her acceptance of Chai’s proposal, believing it would ease her family's burdens, while Chai sought peace in his tumultuous life.
