Summary

Gong Dao Ren, a nameless man, was initially dismissed by a gatekeeper but later gained entry through bribery. After a series of events, including a dangerous fall that attracted guards, he impressed the king with a magical performance featuring celestial maidens. Despite the king's admiration, the Dao Ren preferred freedom over palace life. He assisted a distressed scholar, Shang, in connecting with a singer named Hui Ge, ultimately facilitating their meetings.
