Summary

In Weinan's Jiangbu district, Tao Sheng, a charming but poor man, resists the temptations of spirits and courtesans. Despite his hardships, he seeks shelter from the district chief, who is impressed by his treatise on ghosts. Tao Sheng encounters playful spirits, Qiu Rong and young Xie, who tease and assist him in daily tasks. Their playful interactions deepen as they engage in writing and learning together. However, tragedy strikes when Qiu Rong is captured by a dark judge, leading to a desperate search for her by young Xie. The narrative explores themes of love, friendship, and the supernatural amidst Tao Sheng's struggles.
