Volume 171: Attitude of the State of Chu. [170]
Summary
In the Chu Kingdom, King Xiong Xu learns of his son Lord Xiong Tuo's devastating defeat against Wei's Governor Ji Run, losing nearly ninety percent of his territory. Despite the animosity towards Qi, King Xiong Xu admired Wei and sought to create discord between Wei and Qi to strengthen Chu's position. However, Ji Run's counterattack into Chu territory complicates matters, as he aims to punish Lord Xiong Tuo rather than declare war on Chu. King Xiong Xu faces a dilemma: escalate the conflict or seek a truce, especially with Qi poised to intervene. His ministers offer differing advice, highlighting the precarious balance of power among the three kingdoms.Full content
