Summary

In October 1650, after a ten-month siege, General Shang Wang learns from Cheng En that their army has conquered a city. Displaying cruelty, Wang orders a massacre of the inhabitants. Days later, monks dispose of corpses by the East River Channel, where a young monk feels dread amidst the horror. An old monk notices a crimson meteor, foreboding doom. As they clean up, a corpse rises, prompting a soldier to attack it. The old monk, unperturbed, senses the arrival of tormented souls, leading to the emergence of a pitch-black gate, heralding ominous consequences for the fallen and the living alike.
