Volume 1: Strange Tales - Chapter 3: Three Lives. [26]
Summary
In Hunan Province, Hu Mou remembers his past lives, where he was once a magistrate who wronged scholar Xing Yu Tang in an exam. Xing's ghost rallies others to seek justice, leading to punishments for both Hu and the chief examiner. Hu is reborn as a commoner, only to face Xing again as a judge, resulting in his unjust death. Their souls continue to clash in their next lives as dogs, until King Yama intervenes, bringing them back together. Hu later helps Xing, now Li Sheng, achieve success, and they reconcile, marking the end of their three-life enmity and fostering a bond akin to father and son.Full content
