Chapter 98: Self-Recommendation. [98]

Summary

Ye Tian recalls Liu Zi He, the former top scholar of Great Xia, who once dominated poetry but failed the imperial exams thrice. Disillusioned, he abandoned his ambitions for a while. Unexpectedly, Liu visits Ye Tian, now a military commander, seeking a position in the Imperial Guards. He expresses a desire to serve the court with dignity rather than accept a position through imperial decrees that he previously rejected. Liu aims to fight against the Xiongnu, believing that serving as a military official will allow him to leave a lasting legacy, despite his past pride.
