Chapter 972: Battle of Taiyuan (13). [976]
Summary
Li Jian Cheng, the Crown Prince, faces a dilemma after receiving a message from Wang Jun Kuo about military operations against the Turks. He grapples with the implications of acting independently from the emperor's orders, especially as he deals with the resentment from Minister Li Zhongwen, who blames him for past grievances involving his late nephew. Despite their strained relationship, Li Zhongwen warns Li Jian Cheng against military action, but the Crown Prince dismisses his concerns and resolves to proceed with the battle. The next day, 30,000 Tang soldiers arrive to assist the Sui army, where Qi Wang Zhang Xuan visits the camp, inspiring the troops with a passionate speech about unity and sacrifice. Following this, Zhang Xuan discusses battle strategies with General Wang Jun Kuo, agreeing to prolong the conflict to weaken the enemy before engaging decisively.Full content
