Chapter 957: Hetao Strategy (1). [975]
Summary
In July, Roman envoy Ku Li Ti Ao Si, also known as Zhao Qin, reflects on the Han Dynasty's examination system, which allows anyone to become an official based on merit. He meets two fellow countrymen, including Ou Ke La Ti, a deputy king seeking aid against barbarian invasions. Despite his efforts, Ou Ke La Ti finds Han officials indifferent to his plight. Ku Li Ti Ao Si shares the strength of the Han army, which recently defeated the Xiongnu, impressing Ou Ke La Ti and a monk named Jiao Ke Da Mo. Meanwhile, Emperor Liu Che orders strict surveillance of the monk to prevent the spread of Buddhism, which he views as potentially harmful to Chinese beliefs.Full content
