Summary

Liu Mang has formed a powerful cabinet with Zhuge Liang as the chief minister, which has greatly improved the efficiency of government affairs. However, Jia Xu, who handles difficult tasks, is being criticized and insulted by many officials. Liu Mang helps Jia Xu by issuing an edict to stop the insults. Wang Lang, Chen Qun, and Hua Xin are concerned about the current situation and the reforms of the Three Provinces and Six Ministries system. Wang Lang plans to send his granddaughter, Yuan Ji, to the palace to win Liu Mang's favor. Liu Mang is overwhelmed with his duties and his relationships with Zhang Xing Cai, Guan Yin Ping, and Xin Xian Ying. When Wang Lang brings Yuan Ji to the palace, Liu Mang is surprised and feels that Wang Lang has no sense of decency, as Yuan Ji is only 12 years old. Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei rush to the palace after hearing that Liu Mang is injured, but they find that he is actually fine and just pretending to be hurt. Liu Mang meets Yuan Ji, and the chapter ends with Wang Lang's plan to use his granddaughter to influence Liu Mang.
