Summary

During the An-Shi Rebellion, the mad emperor, previously thought to be incapacitated, regains his sanity, causing unrest among the court, especially for Li Bi and the Empress Dowager, who had plans to manipulate power. The emperor feigns madness to observe court dynamics and protect himself. Upon recovery, he reclaims authority, aligns with Li Bi, and plots against Du Yu, who had previously driven him to madness. In a deceptive move, the emperor grants Du Yu a prestigious military title, intending to provoke public outrage against him. Meanwhile, Du Yu, working in obscurity, realizes the imperial favor is a trap designed to ruin him.
