Summary

Wan Yan Chang receives a distressing pigeon message about a large bandit force in Shangdang County and the urgent need for reinforcements due to low morale in Zhao Wen Hui's army. Despite his anger at the situation, he realizes that the bandits have looted military supplies, making it difficult for his forces. Recognizing the potential grain supply in Shangdang County, he decides to send two thousand cavalry troops, composed of Jurchen and Bohai soldiers, to secure it. As they camp for the night, Wan Yan Chang feels uneasy about the quiet surroundings. When a fire erupts nearby, he orders an immediate evacuation. The troops attempt to escape but find themselves trapped by flames on both sides. In a desperate move, Wan Yan Chang decides to split the forces to break through the encirclement, hoping to regroup later and plunder supplies on their way to Luo Yang.
