Chapter 913: Xianbei Cavalry, How Can It Be Tolerated?. [913]

Summary

Liu Bao, having lost his general Ba Bu, learns of the complete annihilation of Wang Ting by the Xianbei, led by Radix Bupleuri. Frustrated by internal strife and unable to defeat the Han, Liu Bao decides to return to Wang Ting to resolve these issues before confronting Nakahara. Meanwhile, Liu Mang coordinates with Ma Chao and Jiang Wei to prevent Cao Zhang from pursuing Liu Bao, opting to let the Xianbei and Huns battle each other first. The Xianbei, fueled by their ambition to dominate the prairie, attack Wang Ting, with Ma Chao gaining the loyalty of the tribesmen. Radix Bupleuri feels uneasy as he realizes Ma Chao's rising influence. When a Xiongnu envoy confronts the Xianbei about their actions, Ma Chao takes a bold stance, declaring war on the Xiongnu and rallying the Xianbei to choose between fighting or submission. Ma Chao plans a surprise attack on Liu Bao’s returning troops, believing that the Xianbei and Xiongnu are not fundamentally different. He aims to exploit their weaknesses, ensuring that the Xianbei will rely more on him after the conflict. Jiang Wei learns valuable tactics from Ma Chao, who remains confident in his strategy to manipulate the situation to his advantage.
