Chapter 91: Settling Down [90]
Summary
A group of villagers, led by Yu Huai, embarks on a long and exhausting journey to a government-designated relocation area after their village was minimally affected by recent disasters. After five hours of walking, they finally reach a high ground where tents have been hastily erected. The tents are rudimentary, with open sides, but provide some shelter from the rain. In the chaotic scene of claiming spots, Yu Huai suggests drawing lots to allocate the limited shanties, which helps to restore order. Zhu Yuan, chosen to draw for her group, ends up with a small shanty that fits them well. Despite the challenging circumstances, the villagers remain grateful for the food and shelter provided. As night falls, Zhu Yuan sneaks out for a late-night snack and prepares ginger soup to prevent illness among her companions. The next morning, the villagers drink the ginger soup, appreciating Yu Huai's care.Full content
