Chapter 91: Family Disputes and Tender Times. [90]
Summary
In this chapter, Maki Miyazawa and Sawayama Haruno share a light-hearted yet intimate conversation as they leave Haruno's house. Maki playfully refuses to give Sawayama her suitcase and suggests they can kiss when they get home, revealing her conflicted feelings about the situation with her mother. Despite their teasing banter, Sawayama expresses concern for Maki's happiness, leading them to discuss dinner plans. Maki prefers to eat out and shows excitement when Sawayama agrees to take her to teppanyaki, as long as they’re alone. The scene then shifts to Ezaki Miki, who is preparing to meet her ailing mother, Ezaki Zhi Ren. After a lengthy absence from her mother's life and feeling the tension of their strained relationship, Jiang cautiously approaches her with a concern for her mother's health. However, the conversation quickly turns contentious as her mother accuses Ezaki Miki of being unprepared and reliant on others, which leads to a discussion about responsibilities within the family. Ezaki Miki feels trapped in her mother’s expectations and reflects on her brother Naoha’s capabilities, questioning why he should not be the one to inherit the family business. The mother’s obsession with traditional family roles and her failure to recognize Ezaki Miki’s different capabilities creates a tense atmosphere that illustrates the daughter’s struggle against her mother’s domineering expectations and her own sense of inadequacy.Full content
