Summary

In a crumbling border post, an old veteran reminisces about the fierce battle at Hangu Pass, where the Dao Ancestor defeated invaders fifty years ago. An Zheng, alongside him, learns of the old man's pride and the chaotic timeline caused by his own rebirth. An old Dao Ren, appearing unexpectedly, offers An Zheng a chance to learn the Dao but reveals that his existence has disrupted the natural order. The Dao Ren tasks An Zheng with restoring balance by retrieving a part of his companion's Primordial Spirit. After a brief exchange, An Zheng returns to Hangu Pass, determined to save the old cow and monk, holding onto the character "Chi" as a symbol of his quest.
