Chapter 9: Neither Human nor Ghost. [373]

Summary

Huo Qubing, a lancer, relishes charging into battle despite his brother Yun Lang's disapproval. He leads his men with fervor, carving paths through enemy lines. The Xiongnu's sneak attack reveals traitorous Han slaves, despised by both Xiongnu and Han. The Han army's disdain for these traitors is evident as they discard their bodies. The Xiongnu, transitioning from herdsmen to warriors, taunt the Han defenses. Despite the Han's cavalry improvements, they prefer infantry for defense.
