Chapter 899: Surprise Attack and North (8). [903]

Summary

The next day, the Sui army threatens Loufan Pass with an attack, demanding the Tang forces to evacuate within an hour. Li Jian Cheng, the Crown Prince of Tang, sees this as an intolerable act. Despite the outnumbering of the Sui army, Li Jian Cheng prepares the Tang troops for battle. The Sui army, with ten catapults and eighteen thousand soldiers, lines up a mile away from Loufan Pass, exuding a murderous aura. Li Jian Cheng notices the Sui army's plan to use catapults to smash the city walls and charge in directly. Wang Jun Kuo, a general, points out the northwest corner's vulnerability, which has a single wall and is the warehouse's location. Li Jian Cheng contemplates whether to abandon Loufan Pass, understanding that it holds little significance for defending against enemies from the north. However, he feels unwilling to give up the pass due to his father's hopes and the honor of the Tang Dynasty.
