Chapter 890: Deng Ai Plays with Quan Cong. [891]

Summary

In Kuaiji, merchants suffer under the threat of Yamakoshi, a region known for military training and banditry. Quan Cong, stationed in Kuaiji and resentful of Sun Quan after personal losses, exploits the merchants by demanding protection fees. Despite a recent decline in Yamakoshi's aggression, he seizes the opportunity for profit. When merchants plead for help against Yamakoshi's raids, Quan Cong pretends to support them while prioritizing his interests. Cheng Wu of Yamakoshi uses tactics to confuse Quan Cong, leading him to abandon the merchants during a supposed attack. As Quan Cong realizes he has been outmaneuvered, he faces mounting pressure from the merchants to retaliate against Yamakoshi. Despite his initial reluctance, he is forced to prepare for battle as Yamakoshi approaches the city gate, calling him out directly.
