Chapter 89: Demon King Drunk (Part 1). [90]

Summary

Li Su and Li Ke, a commoner and a royal, were being held captive by bandits at the Cheng Family's residence. The family's patriarch, Cheng Yaojin, was a formidable character who had fought alongside Li Ke's father, making him a comrade rather than a subject. Cheng Yaojin had a reputation for being merciless, and his presence made Li Ke fearful. Li Su, on the other hand, seemed to be enjoying the situation, even going so far as to play a game of "find the differences" to pass the time. Cheng Yaojin eventually turned his attention to Li Su, who had brewed a high-quality wine that he wanted to taste. Li Su reluctantly agreed, knowing that the wine was extremely potent, with a proof of at least 50 degrees. The wine was brought out, and Cheng Yaojin took a large gulp, which caused him to widen his eyes in shock. The others in the room were eager to try the wine, but Li Su knew its true power. As the night wore on, the atmosphere in the room became more chaotic, with the Cheng family and Li Ke becoming increasingly intoxicated. Cheng Yaojin became more and more lively, shouting loudly and ordering someone to bring an axe. Li Su sat quietly, observing the chaos around him, and feeling like he was sitting on pins and needles. The situation was unfavorable, with Cheng Yaojin wielding an axe and talking nonsense. Eventually, Cheng Yaojin began to cry and laugh uncontrollably, speaking nonsense about his life's misfortunes. Li Su forced a smile, listening to him ramble, his expression as respectful as if he were kneeling in an ancestral temple. He knew that he had to be careful, as Old Cheng was holding a huge battle-axe with a gleaming blade that was just a few inches from his neck.
