Chapter 875: The Emperor Meets. [876]

Summary

In Luo Yang, Liu Mang arrives alone, facing a low-morale Wei army. The general Wang Ji acknowledges him but insists he report to Cao Rui. Despite a subordinate's suggestion to kill Liu Mang to weaken the Han, Wang Ji refuses, citing battlefield rules. Meanwhile, Cao Rui prepares to meet Liu Mang, sensing a potential for peace. However, Sima Yi plots to assassinate Liu Mang, believing it would destabilize the Han. Wang Chang disagrees, fearing the repercussions of such an act. In the Han camp, Liu Bei and his generals express concern for Liu Mang's safety. Zhuge Liang believes there are wise individuals in Wei who might help protect Liu Mang and orders Zhao Yun to rescue him if needed. As Liu Mang arrives at the lavish Tai Chu Palace, he reflects on the extravagance of Cao Wei compared to the Han. The meeting between Liu Mang and Cao Rui is tense, with Cao Rui mocking Liu Mang's appearance, to which Liu Mang retorts about the cost of Wei's wealth in lives lost.
