Summary

In a bustling Yanzhou, Yi Xiu encounters Zhang Dun, who is distressed over his brother Gu Qin Feng's impending sacrifice for righteousness against corrupt officials. Yi Xiu, intrigued by Zhang's ideals, offers him a significant sum of gold, questioning his beliefs about wealth and virtue. Zhang reveals the gravity of the situation: the court is investigating the Kong family, and his brother aims to defend Confucian values, even at the cost of his life. Gu Qin Feng, unaware of being manipulated, is persuaded to take a stand, believing he can achieve glory through his sacrifice. He spends a final night with Yi Xiu, who expresses her desire to pray for him as she plans to become a nun.
