Journey to the West: I, Tripitaka, Accepted a Demon as a Disciple and Fought on the Mystical Mountain.
Chapter 84: Passing Mystical Mountain Thrice Without Entering. [84]
Summary
In a dramatic confrontation at Mystical Mountain, the scripture-fetching travelers (Tang Seng and his disciples) repeatedly circled the mountain, frustrating the Eighteen Arhats and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva who desperately wanted them to retrieve scriptures. Suddenly, a massive attack by Light Dragon's Old Ancestor shattered the mountain's protective formation, causing devastating destruction. Hundreds of Arhats were killed or injured, and Mystical Mountain was split in two. Maitreya Buddha's inaction during the attack drew criticism from other heavenly beings, potentially damaging his reputation and future political aspirations.Full content
