Summary

Li Yan Qing visits Ruan Xiaoer, reminding him of a past encounter in Tangyin County. Ruan Xiaoer, initially hostile, softens as Li Yan Qing discusses the court's treatment of former Liangshan generals. Li Yan Qing proposes that Ruan Xiaoer join him in resisting the Jurchens, but Ruan Xiaoer declines, preferring to focus on his current life. After leaving, Li Yan Qing contemplates a plan involving Master Zhi Guang, the abbot of Baolin Temple. Meanwhile, Ruan Xiaoqi learns from his brothers about Li Yan Qing's visit and their refusal to join him. Their mother, Tao Shi, confronts them about their past as bandits and urges them to serve the country, leading to a promise from the brothers to seek out General Li and honor their ancestors.
