Summary

Cao Sheng expected Li Yan Qing to act against the chaos at the Kaifeng government office, but he hesitated until a large crowd of citizens, led by students, demanded action. The citizens accused the government of abducting women and called for Li Yan Qing to intervene. He pledged to stand up for the people and led a charge against the officials responsible for the abductions. As chaos ensued, Li Yan Qing confronted Xu Bing Zhe, who was executing the orders to seize women. He executed Xu for treason and rallied the citizens to punish the corrupt officials. Wang Shi Yong attempted to flee but was captured and met a similar fate at the hands of the angry crowd. Meanwhile, Geng Nan Zhong, aware of the backlash, plotted against Li Yan Qing, but the latter emerged with the support of officials and citizens, vowing to protect the capital and the people from the Jin. Li Yan Qing tore up Geng Nan Zhong's decree dismissing him and had him arrested, solidifying his position as a leader committed to defending the Great Song Dynasty.
