Chapter 787: Fire Raft Attack. [790]

Summary

As dusk approached, Wei Chi Gong led his soldiers to Pujin Pass after receiving urgent news about Tang army reinforcements. He confirmed with Wang Xuan Jing that the Tang general was likely Li Shi Min. Observing the Tang's preparations for siege, Wei Chi Gong decided to withdraw and destroy the floating bridge to fortify their defenses along the Yellow River. The Tang army, under Li Shi Min, began their assault on Pujin Pass but discovered it deserted, with scarecrows instead of soldiers. Realizing the Sui army had destroyed the floating bridge, Li Shi Min planned to requisition ships to cross the river. Changsun Wuji suggested building a floating bridge to facilitate the crossing, which was quickly approved. As the bridge was being constructed, the Sui army attempted to sabotage it with fire ships. Li Shi Min ordered his soldiers to counter the attack, successfully preventing significant damage to the bridge.
