Summary

Liu Che encounters the last two members of the Wusun royal family at the palace gate. He helps the young Kunmo, a frail boy, to his feet and reflects on the downfall of Wusun, attributing much of it to his own actions. The Wusun princess, Azana, pleads for support, aware of the need for the Han emperor's backing to revive their kingdom. Liu Che, while expressing sympathy, emphasizes the necessity for the Wusun to adapt to Han customs. He plans to assimilate the Xiongnu and Wusun into the Han dynasty, ensuring their submission to his rule. Liu Che dismisses Azana's hopes of restoring Wusun, indicating that such aspirations are unrealistic for now.
