Chapter 757: Bargaining. [760]

Summary

Su Liang meets Fang Xuan Ling in a tent to discuss the occupation of Xingyang County, which Su claims belongs to the Luo Yang court. Fang argues that as the Great Sui army, they have the right to occupy it. Su warns Fang of potential cooperation with the Tang army if the situation does not improve. Fang suggests that the Wagang army's control complicates matters and proposes compensation for their occupation and a map for territorial division. Su agrees to the compensation but insists on Xingyang's ownership. After negotiations, Su prepares to report back to his superior, Wang Shi Chong, who reacts angrily to the proposal, feeling insulted by the terms. As tensions rise, news arrives that Li Yuan is mobilizing, prompting Wang Shi Chong to accept Fang's terms to avoid being attacked from both sides. The two sides reach an agreement, with Wang Shi Chong leading his troops southward.
