Summary

The Jin army, after suffering a setback due to the Tang cavalry's destruction of their grain depot, requisitioned laborers to transport grain to the capital along a 500-mile route. Yue Fei recognized an opportunity to disrupt this convoy but initially struggled to gather support. Eventually, he received assistance from Wang Gui and 3,000 cavalrymen. Yue Fei and his men ambushed a group of 300 Jin cavalry, causing chaos and inflicting heavy casualties. They seized over 1,000 abandoned grain carts and set them ablaze. Meanwhile, the Anyang defenders, alerted to the situation, rushed to respond but were intercepted by Wang Gui's forces, who annihilated both Jin soldiers and the Han troops that had surrendered to them. Yue Fei and Niu Gao then led their cavalry into the undefended Anyang County, achieving a significant victory.
