Chapter 72: Jun Ruo Li's Family Matters. [72]

Summary

In Tang Xian County Office, Wang Shi Zi confronts Jun Ruo Li about the murder of his servant, which remains unsolved. Suddenly, Jing Wang, the emperor's fifth brother, enters and claims responsibility for the servant's death, asserting it was due to the servant's attack on a commoner. Wang Shi Zi, despite his resentment, feigns acceptance. Jing Wang warns him to control his subordinates or face consequences. Ruo Li, an illegitimate son of the Duke, reflects on his complicated family history, including his mother's past and his father's refusal to acknowledge him. Jing Wang advises Ruo Li not to resent his father, suggesting that familial ties still exist despite the Duke's strict adherence to family rules.
