As the siege progressed, the Chinese army faced devastating losses but continued to fight back with ambushes and artillery. The pseudo-Qi army struggled against the determined resistance, suffering significant casualties. In March of the fourth year, the Chinese army launched a surprise attack, achieving notable victories against the enemy. A special forces unit infiltrated the Jin Kingdom, causing chaos and leaving a message of defiance. The Jurchens, initially complacent, began mobilizing more troops in response to the black flag army's bold actions. However, they continued to use Han troops as cannon fodder. By September, a raid disrupted the Jurchen encampments, leading to heavy losses for the black flag army during their retreat. In the fifth year of Jian Shuo, fierce battles ensued, resulting in significant casualties on both sides, including the fall of Yan Zhou and the end of the Zong family army. In June, the black flag army, alongside Shulie's forces, broke out of the siege, causing chaos and ultimately capturing Jurchen general Zhi Bu Shi. The black flag army continued to advance, capturing cities and moving towards the central plains.
