Summary

The narrator reflects on a life-changing event involving the death of a young girl, which has made him more resilient. Amid a Hopping Vampire scare, he prepares a ritual at the town crossroads using magical tools and a rooster to summon spirits. Despite his inexperience, he follows the ritual, but faces challenges when a zombie emerges. With the help of a fearful local named Tai Long, they attempt to trap the zombie. The narrator realizes the zombie is intelligent and struggles with his remaining powers. Ultimately, he prepares for a final confrontation, embodying courage as he draws his sword to face the threat alone.
