Chapter 705: God of Killing. [706]
Summary
Luo Zhao received a letter from Meng Shan Ming, who had cut off one ear from each of the 600,000 prisoners and sent them to the rear patrol. The letter stated that if Luo Zhao wasn't satisfied, Meng Shan Ming would continue to slaughter the people of Song. Luo Zhao was furious and wanted to vent his anger, but he couldn't afford to create more complications. He realized that Meng Shan Ming was trying to provoke him and keep him entangled in the Yan Kingdom. A rider arrived with a decree from Emperor Mu Zhuo, instructing Luo Zhao to leave no one alive after capturing Yanjing and to massacre the city. However, the decree also gave Luo Zhao a deadline to capture Yanjing, and if he failed, he was to return to aid. Meng Shan Ming had also spread rumors that the Song army was advancing without any intention to negotiate a withdrawal, and that the court had refused to exchange grain for prisoners. Luo Zhao ordered his troops to attack the city immediately and to slaughter without mercy once it fell. Meanwhile, Niu You Dao received a message from Meng Shan Ming, explaining that the Yan Kingdom had fallen due to internal rot and that the only way to save it was to uproot the rotten roots completely. Meng Shan Ming was willing to let the Song army help clean up Yanjing, but Niu You Dao was unsure if this was Meng Shan Ming's intention or Shang Chao Zong's directive. The situation was becoming increasingly dire, with the fate of Yanjing and the Song army hanging in the balance.Full content
