Chapter 702: Battle Again in Liu City. [706]
Summary
The Goguryeo army successfully attacked Liaodong, with Yi Chiwon capturing Yan City and Yuan Gai Su Wen leading troops towards Liu City. Yuan Tai Zuo's plan underestimated the Khitan army, which attacked Yan City first, leaving Liu City fortified. Upon arriving at Liu City, Yuan Gai Su Wen found it prepared for defense, while the Sui army was confident despite recent battles. The Goguryeo camp was organized, indicating a disciplined force led by Yuan Gai Su Wen. Meanwhile, Pei Xingyan, stationed nearby, received intelligence about the Goguryeo troops and debated whether to attack. Despite advice from Song Zheng Ben to seize the opportunity, Pei Xingyan planned to cut off the Goguryeo supply lines instead. He tasked General Chen Jing with disrupting supplies from Yan City, as the Goguryeo forces were not well-supplied for a prolonged siege. Yuan Gai Su Wen, aware of the Sui defenses, hesitated to attack immediately after observing the traps set by the Sui army.Full content
