Chapter 700: The General in the Field Does Not Follow Orders. [701]
Summary
After reading a letter, Gao Jiancheng felt relieved as it only sought his opinion on a sensitive matter. Meanwhile, Luo Zhao, amidst an advancing army, was surprised by news of 600,000 prisoners held by the Yan army. As discussions unfolded, doubts arose about the authenticity of this number. Luo Zhao, however, believed it was plausible due to the circumstances of their defeat. He stressed the importance of not retreating, as doing so would weaken their position and eliminate any chance for negotiation. Concurrently, Qian Lian Sheng in Yanjing received orders to negotiate but found the absence of information about the prisoners suspicious. Luo Zhao suggested verifying the prisoner situation before any withdrawal, emphasizing the need to maintain leverage in negotiations.Full content
