Summary

Ouyang Ming subconsciously bids on an ancient shield at an auction, surprising himself when no one contests his bid. He acquires it for six hundred spirit stones, but realizes its true value is questionable. Despite its "ancient" label, the shield is revealed to be a three-tiered magical artifact with mediocre attributes. Ouyang Ming's curiosity grows as he wonders why his mental energy couldn't identify the shield's properties. He learns from Tian Ying Hao that the shield is not particularly powerful and was only auctioned due to interest from affiliated sects. Ouyang Ming decides not to bid further to avoid making enemies among the peak spiritualists surrounding him. Later, he is approached by Xiong Li and Yong Le Sheng, who express interest in commissioning him to forge a flying carpet, leading to a tense negotiation interrupted by Mao Jianbi, the Grand Elder of the Beast King Sect.
