Summary

Liu Ming, the owner of Bamboo Virtue Villa, seeks help from Lin Ning, who he believes has a connection to him. Liu Ming shares his villa's recent troubles, including mysterious drownings in a seemingly shallow pond, which have harmed his business. Lin Ning suggests investigating the pond after Liu Ming mentions a fortune-attracting Eight Trigrams mirror given by Wang Da Xian, who is known for selling dubious items. Lin Ning senses malevolence in the pond and instructs Liu Ming to gather workers to dig it up. As they prepare, the pond reacts ominously, but Lin Ning urges them to proceed with the excavation.
