Summary

On a mountain path near Niangziguan, Yan Qing prepares to use the Thunderclap Bomb against the Jin cavalry. After ensuring his men are safe, he drops the bomb, resulting in a devastating explosion that kills many Jin soldiers, including their leader, Pucha, and causes chaos among the cavalry, who retreat in panic. The aftermath of the explosion buys time for the Song army’s defensive preparations in Taiyuan. Li Yanqing issues a war mobilization order, evacuating civilians from surrounding areas and redistributing housing to accommodate the influx of refugees. Despite widespread resentment, the city manages to house nearly 500,000 refugees. Li Yanqing also calls for able-bodied men to enlist, resulting in 80,000 recruits, who are trained for defense and logistics. Yan Qing returns to Taiyuan and reunites with Guan Sheng and Hua Rong, former warriors of Liangshan, who pledge their loyalty to Li Yanqing. They discuss the situation regarding the Jin cavalry, estimating it will take them several days to break out of Jingxing due to the obstacles created by the Thunderclap Bomb. Li Yanqing is informed about the ongoing conflict with Guo Yaoshi's troops and the need for General Han Shizhong to retreat.
