Summary

Li Jian Cheng led thirty thousand troops into Jingxing while a small elite Sui contingent of about three hundred, led by Shen Guang, secretly infiltrated Bingzhou. They approached Xigu Pass undetected, planning to disrupt the Tang army's supply lines. After gathering intelligence from a scout and a woodcutter, Shen Guang learned that the Tang army had fifty thousand stones of grain from Shiai County. Discovering a potential route to attack from above, Shen Guang devised a plan using fireballs made from fire moss to ignite the Tang's grain camp. The Sui soldiers successfully set the camp ablaze, causing chaos and destruction, leading to a significant victory for the Sui forces as they retreated, celebrating their success.
