Chapter 653: Two-Sided Attack. [657]

Summary

Luo Yi awakens after a brief unconsciousness and realizes he has delayed the battle opportunity. With the Qingzhou army at the city gates, he decides to withdraw his troops to Jixian for safety, prioritizing the families of his soldiers. As the Youzhou army begins to retreat, Li Jing, the commander, orders caution, suspecting a feigned retreat. Zhao Liang proposes sending units to destroy bridges to cut off the Youzhou army's escape, which Li Jing reluctantly agrees to. Luo Yi's army crosses the North Bridge, but he feels uneasy as they march. After resting for a while, he senses something is amiss when he notices the absence of farmers in the fields. Suddenly, he detects the approach of cavalry and quickly orders his troops to prepare for battle. The Qingzhou army, equipped with a powerful cavalry unit, launches a surprise attack on the Youzhou troops, leading to chaos as they clash.
