Summary

Zhang Bai Ren, surprised by the presence of bandits called Wa Gang Zhai, learns from an escort that local authorities are powerless to suppress them due to internal resistance and backing from aristocratic families. After a failed attempt to incapacitate him with knockout incense, the innkeeper reveals his intent to capture Zhang, believing him to be a hero seeking justice. A confrontation ensues where Zhang showcases his formidable skills, defeating the innkeeper and his accomplices effortlessly. The cook, in a last-ditch effort, attempts to attack Zhang but is swiftly killed. The chapter ends with Zhang realizing he is being tracked and that his enemies are well-informed about his movements.
